What's the endgame? Founded in 2025 by Mishal Bin Slimah and Omar Shaaban, Vrtx offers digital wallets, payouts, card issuance, transfers, and transaction processing as building blocks. The aim is to let companies launch financial products without building the underlying systems from scratch.

The founders previously worked together at TweeqDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an early Saudi digital finance platform acquired by Tabby. "Our goal is to make fintech capability a standard building block for any business," said Bin Slimah, chief executive officer.

Why now? Vrtx has received In-Principle Approval from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) for an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence, a step toward offering its services within the kingdom's regulatory framework.

What could go wrong? At $3.6 million, the raise is modest next to larger embedded-finance bets in the kingdom — Tarabut announced $50 million in strategic financing in September. Vrtx's significance will hinge on whether it converts capital into adoption and financing volume.

The signal: Despite its size, the round ranks in the top 10% of all Saudi seed-stage deals on record, a sample of 680. That underscores continued investor appetite for the platform layer of a fast-developing fintech market.
