What's the endgame? Greenzo makes and assembles equipment for hydrogen production. It plans to deploy the capital to expand indigenous electrolyser manufacturing, strengthen backward integration, fund R&D, and accelerate project execution at home and abroad.

Its anchor is a 250 MW-per-annum electrolyser facility at Sanand GIDC in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, producing alkaline water electrolysers and Balance of Plant systems. Why now? India's National Green Hydrogen Mission carries a US$2.68B outlay and targets 5 million tonnes of annual output by 2030. Projects from the first incentive tranche start commissioning in August 2026, shifting electrolyser demand from tenders to actual procurement.

What could go wrong? Greenzo's revenue remains small against its stated order book: US$2.17M in FY25 versus a reported US$163M pipeline. Converting that backlog into sales — and cash — is the key test, while well-capitalised international electrolyser makers compete fiercely for India's pipeline.

The round also carries caveats. The US$17.7M raise appears to be a proposed preferential issue of convertible preference shares, due for shareholder consideration at an EGM, rather than a completed transaction, and the US$139.9M figure should be read as an indicated issue valuation.

The signal: "Green hydrogen becomes the cornerstone of global industrial decarbonisation," Kacholia and Sanghvi said. India's electrolyser market is moving from policy promise to build-out, but much of the sector — Greenzo included — still has to prove it can convert orders into revenue.
