DKSH buys NewBridge for $390M to enter Middle East healthcare

What's the deal? Swiss market-expansion group DKSHDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has agreed to acquire 100% of Dubai-based NewBridge Pharmaceuticals for an enterprise value of $390 million. NewBridge markets specialty and rare-disease medicines across 14 markets in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates among the largest.

Why now? Outsourced commercialisation services for pharma companies have been a key growth driver for DKSH in recent years, chief executive officer Stefan Butz said. In August, Butz flagged "an attractive pipeline of mid-sized acquisition opportunities," several of which could close in the second half of 2026.

What's the endgame? The deal gives DKSH Healthcare its first footprint beyond Asia Pacific and deepens its position in rare-disease medicines. Founded in 2010, NewBridge employs more than 300 people across oncology, neurology, immunology, and gastroenterology, and also helps drugmakers with market launches and access. Its existing management will stay on.

The numbers: DKSH expects NewBridge to generate around $385 million in net sales in 2027, with a high single-digit EBITDA margin. The debt-financed deal should lift DKSH's net sales growth, Core EBIT margin, and earnings per share from closing, while leaving room for further acquisitions and keeping its dividend policy unchanged.

What could go wrong? Completion is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. The heavy debt financing and pending clearances make integration and returns the deciding factors.

The signal: The purchase fits DKSH's stated strategy of expanding healthcare through larger, strategically relevant acquisitions and commercial outsourcing. It positions the group as a multi-regional outsourcing partner for biopharma companies — and plants its first flag in a fast-growing MENA market.
