Charmcare raises $749K from Yuhan to expand hospital blood-pressure monitoring
What's the deal? CharmcareDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a South Korean digital health company behind wearable blood-pressure devices, has raised US$838.4K (around $749,000) in a strategic late-stage round led by pharmaceutical firm Yuhan CorporationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The deal closed at the end of September.
What does Charmcare do? Founded in 2004, it develops the wrist-band blood-pressure monitor H2-BP and the 24-hour ambulatory device H2-ABPM, used by hospitals and clinics for hypertension diagnosis and treatment assessment. It is also building a miniaturised continuous blood-pressure sensor based on radial-artery pressure waveforms.
What's the money for? Charmcare plans to strengthen research and product supply, expand sales at home and abroad, and speed commercialisation of its continuous monitoring technology. "We will push into the global digital healthcare market based on the competitiveness we have built in the domestic medical institution market," a company representative said (translated from Korean).
Why now? Yuhan is extending its open-innovation strategy from drug development into digital healthcare. The investor plans to pair its hospital sales network with Charmcare's technology to grow the market for 24-hour ambulatory monitoring, with potential cooperation in smart wards, remote patient monitoring, and home care under review.
What could go wrong? For now the partnership remains at an exploratory stage, with no confirmed supply contracts or hospital adoption figures. The investment's value rests on future deals rather than current revenue.
The signal: The round is small — in the bottom tenth of comparable deals by size — but it marks a deliberate widening of Yuhan's bets. After investing US$4.19M in ECG firm HuinnoG in 2020 and later securing domestic rights to its monitoring products, Yuhan is now adding blood pressure to a digital health portfolio that increasingly reaches beyond traditional pharma.
