What does Linkener do? It runs an Intelligent Energy Management System that lets companies monitor consumption, digitise and verify invoices, and receive alerts and savings recommendations. The startup serves more than 2,000 clients, manages 10,000 supply points, and administers 1.7 TWh of annual consumption — equivalent to a city of 400,000 people.

What's the money for? Linkener plans to grow organically and through acquisitions of products and companies that strengthen its business. It also wants to accelerate development of its own artificial intelligence models for energy management, using AI and data analysis to automate invoice processing, detect anomalies, and identify savings.

Why now? The round backs a push to consolidate Spain's fragmented energy-management market. With an established commercial base, Linkener has a platform from which to scale acquisitions and AI tools.

What could go wrong? The acquisition strategy and new AI products still need to translate into measurable growth and savings for clients.

The signal: The deal extends Alantra's Klima activity in energy technology, following investments in AI energy optimiser Dexter Energy and battery specialist maxwell+spark. With the €210 million fund now raising a larger successor, the round reflects growing investor appetite for digitising how businesses use energy.
