What's the endgame? Kompanion bundles accounting, tax, payroll, insurance, expenses, cards, and invoicing into a single AI-based platform for businesses. It expects to reach 300 customers by the end of the year.

Where's the money going? The funds will strengthen the company's technology team, hire specialised talent, and accelerate product development, with a focus on automation and AI. Planned additions include bank reconciliation, treasury control, and the distribution of liability and employee health insurance.

"Companies need to spend their time and resources on growing their business, not on coordinating different providers and tools to manage their day-to-day," said co-founder Eduard Mas Miserachs (translated from Spanish).

Why now? JME Ventures partner Iván Ladabaso argues the opportunity exists because the market is fragmented. "Accounting, tax, and compliance work is fragmented country by country in Europe, so nobody has yet built a large modern player," he said, noting Kompanion is starting in Spain with founders who know the customer from the inside.

The signal: A wave of startups is rebuilding back-office financial admin around AI, betting that small businesses will pay to consolidate scattered tools. Kompanion's modest seed reflects an early European play on that thesis — one Spanish market at a time.
