Flotek buys Scotland's Comvista to build out network infrastructure arm

What's the deal? Welsh technology group FlotekDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Comvista Networks, a Glenrothes-based telecommunications and network infrastructure provider, for an undisclosed sum. The move extends Flotek's reach across Scotland and the north of the UK.

What does Comvista do? Founded in 2008, it designs, builds and commissions network infrastructure, structured cabling, optical fibre and connectivity. Its clients span SMEs, commercial firms, and public-sector bodies, including Fife Council.

Why now? The deal formalises a long-standing relationship. Comvista has worked as a contractor to Flotek for years, delivering cabling and infrastructure projects for its partners in the region.

What's the endgame? Flotek wants to manage technology projects from the physical cabling layer through to managed IT, cybersecurity, and communications under one partner. Comvista adds specialist infrastructure expertise and deepens Flotek's communications presence among SMEs.

Comvista director Neill Ferguson, a former BT engineer with more than 40 years in the industry, said joining Flotek "creates an opportunity to bring that expertise into a wider technology group and offer customers an even broader range of joined-up services."

The signal: As businesses lean harder on cloud services and connected devices, the physical network underneath becomes a competitive asset. "A technology solution can only perform as well as the network it runs on," said Flotek chief executive officer Jay Ball — a logic driving managed-service firms to absorb infrastructure specialists.
