What's the endgame? The startup sells natural, sugar-free products free from artificial flavours and colours, aimed at consumers looking to drink more water. Founder and chief executive officer Cassandra Pichette frames the mission as building a daily habit: "a healthier daily habit for as many Canadians as possible," she said.

Why now? Pichette ties the company's origins to her own history. "Not long ago, I didn't drink water at all. I was completely dependent on sugar," she said. "Building Ö Hydration changed that for me before it ever changed anything for anyone else."

Who's backing it? The financing comes through FCC CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which provides flexible capital to Canadian agri-food businesses. FCC supports Canadian agriculture and food companies with financing and expertise.

Graeme Millen, vice president of strategic finance and project finance at FCC, called the company "a great example of the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit we see across Canada's food and beverage sector." He added: "The team has built impressive momentum and developed a clear path for growth."

The signal: Debt, rather than equity, lets Ö Hydration fund growth without diluting ownership — a route increasingly used by consumer brands with proven demand. For FCC, the deal reflects a push to widen its capital solutions toward homegrown food and beverage scaleups.
