Lake Energy raises $80M to build US solar and storage

What's the deal? Singapore-based Lake EnergyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured $80 million to build renewable energy infrastructure in the United States. The round was led by investors with backgrounds in energy infrastructure and clean energy.

Where the money goes: The funds will back solar projects, battery storage systems, and grid interconnection across the US. Lake Energy said it will build in phases, working with local engineering and power partners as permitting and grid connections progress.

Why now? The company is tying its expansion to rising US electricity demand, which it links to artificial intelligence, data centres, and advanced manufacturing. It calls the US "a key global energy market" and plans to deepen its long-term presence there.

What's the endgame? Lake Energy focuses on solar, wind, energy storage, and related technologies. "We will continue to invest resources in solar energy, energy storage, and related infrastructure," said director Owe Kok Liang.

The signal: Power-hungry data centres are reshaping energy investment, and Lake Energy's raise reflects capital flowing toward solar-plus-storage projects positioned to meet that demand.
