What's the endgame? The deal lifts Oriental Semiconductor's holding in Hynetek from 53.0921% to 58.4152%. The company says the move will "further consolidate" its control, improve decision-making efficiency, and lower management costs and control risk.
Why now? Oriental Semiconductor first took majority control of Hynetek this year, buying a 53.0921% stake for US$56M in a cash deal approved by shareholders in April 2026. This latest purchase builds on that position.
What happened: On October 8, 2026, Oriental Semiconductor's general manager meeting approved bidding for the stake at a total price not exceeding US$3.22M. On October 16, the Xiamen Property Rights Trading Center confirmed the company as the winning bidder at US$3.21M.
What could go wrong? As of the announcement, the equity transfer agreement had not been signed. The company must sign a property rights transaction contract within five working days of receiving the notice, and it warns that uncertainty remains in carrying out the deal.
The signal: The buyout is small enough to skip board and shareholder approval, and it will not change Oriental Semiconductor's consolidation scope. It reflects a steady, cash-funded push by the chipmaker to tighten its grip on a subsidiary it already controls.
