Spout raises $2M to offer 0% interest loans against tokenized US stocks
What's the deal? SpoutDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Solana-based lending protocol, has raised a $2 million seed round to let individuals borrow against tokenized US equities without paying interest. How it works: Users post tokenized US stocks as collateral and borrow USDC at a flat 50% loan-to-value ratio, paying 0% interest for as long as they hold the loan. Instead of charging borrowers, Spout writes weekly far-out-of-the-money covered calls against the collateral; lenders are paid from that options premium rather than a rate spread.
Why now? As of October 2026, Charles Schwab and FidelityDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → charge individual investors 12.075% a year on margin balances under $25,000 — against an effective federal funds rate of 3.88%. Private banks offer securities-based lending at 4% to 6%, but only to clients who meet relationship minimums most individuals never reach.
What they're saying: "Borrowing against your own portfolio has always been a product for people who already had a private banker. I do not think it should be," said co-founder and chief executive officer Marc Ryan.
The backers: Angel investors include Solana Labs co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal; InjectiveDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Eric ChenDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →; and J. Christopher Giancarlo, former chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, who also advises Spout on regulation and policy.
What's the endgame? Spout is not yet on mainnet; its beta runs on Solana Devnet, with a private beta coming soon. The funding will scale the team and build a credit layer that issuers, exchanges, and wallets can plug into rather than build themselves.
The signal: The round lands at the 33rd percentile for deal size, modest by venture standards. But it reflects a broader push to make tokenized equities useful beyond mere ownership — turning on-chain stocks into working collateral.
