Signal Ocean buys Telix maker Lgmar to merge shipping data and email
What's the deal? Signal OceanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Lgmar, the Athens-based company behind Telix, a maritime email and communication platform used across the shipping industry since 1989. Terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: Signal Ocean sells market intelligence and data tools to the shipping sector. Lgmar brings 37 years of experience in the email workflows where fixtures, operations, and post-fixing take place.
Why now? Email remains a core working tool in shipping — the point where market data, counterparties, and decisions meet. Signal Ocean wants to extend from market intelligence into those daily communication workflows.
What changes for customers? Little, at least at first. "The immediate priority for clients of both companies is continuity," said Ioannis Martinos, chief executive officer of Signal Ocean.
What's the endgame? Signal Ocean plans to combine its data and AI capabilities with Lgmar's product, placing the intelligence behind a decision and the place that decision is taken in the same system.
Lgmar managing director Helen Skourtis framed the sale as a cultural fit. "We built Telix by listening to shipping people and solving the problems they faced," she said. "What mattered in choosing our next step was finding a home that understands that."
The signal: The deal reflects a broader push in maritime technology to fold communication and data into one workflow, meeting shipping professionals where the work already happens rather than asking them to switch tools.
