Xingshuai moves into PCB tooling with Fanyu acquisition

What's the deal? Chinese manufacturer Xingshuai (002860.SZ) has agreed to acquire Fanyu TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a maker of precision tools and equipment for printed circuit boards (PCBs). Terms were undisclosed. Fonghua SecuritiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → flagged the completed acquisition plan in an October 15 research note, maintaining a "recommend" rating on Xingshuai.

What each side does: Xingshuai currently makes refrigeration components, electric motors, and solar modules. Fanyu builds PCB precision tooling equipment, including four-station drill-bit machining centres, drill-bit grinding centres, and one-step milling-cutter centres.

Why it matters: Fanyu also extends into semi-finished products such as drill-bit welding, step processing, and precision-ground shanks. It serves top-tier PCB drill-bit customers, a segment with strong demand, according to the note.

What's the endgame? This is not a simple extension of Xingshuai's existing lines but a move upstream into PCB precision manufacturing. Fonghua Securities said the deal could build "a new business platform with technical barriers and growth potential" (translated from Chinese).

The signal: The acquisition points to a Chinese component maker diversifying into higher-margin, specialised tooling as demand for PCB manufacturing equipment holds up.
