Igefa completes takeover of Bavarian family firm Zech
What's the deal? German distribution group igefa has completed its acquisition of Zech GmbHDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a family-owned supplier based in Straubing, Bavaria. The deal closed after being announced in June. Terms were not disclosed.
Who's involved? Zech employs around 110 people and generates about €40 million in revenue across Bavaria. It will keep operating under its own brand, led by managing director Steffi Hoppenthaler, with the existing management team staying in place.
What's the endgame? For igefa, the deal deepens its footprint in Bavaria and strengthens regional customer ties. Zech gains access to igefa's national and international network, including its own-brand products and services in sustainability and digitalisation.
Why now? Igefa frames the move as part of a long-term growth strategy built on acquiring regional players. "With Zech we gain a regionally well-anchored partner that fits us very well geographically and culturally," said chief executive officer Matthias Rucker (translated from German).
What changes for customers? Existing contacts and regional service stay the same. Zech customers gain wider delivery options and can now be supplied nationwide through igefa's network. Operational integration will proceed in stages.
The signal: The takeover reflects steady consolidation among Germany's regional distributors, as larger networks absorb family-run specialists while preserving their local brands and relationships.
