MIRAVA raises $7.47M to build smart electric yachts for "people who play in water

What's the deal? MIRAVADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a smart electric yacht startup, has raised nearly US$6.88M (roughly $7.47 million) in an angel round, 36Kr reported. What's the endgame? MIRAVA wants to redefine recreational boating for what co-founder Chi Yuhao calls "people who play in water" rather than "people who play with boats." Its core team comes from HuaweiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, SenseTime, Tsinghua University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University, spanning smart algorithms, marine hardware, industrial design, and overseas sales.

What's the product? The flagship M800E is an 8m smart electric yacht that debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2026. Its headline feature is scenario-based auto-following: a user wearing a smart wristband can swim or paddle while the boat autonomously tracks their position. The vessel also offers a mother-ship mode, where a powered rear module detaches into a self-driving tender for shallow-water and island access.

Why now? Chi argues the industry has seen no fundamental product change in decades. Traditional yachts carry high purchase costs, complex handling, and steep learning curves, with most hull types built for single niche uses such as fishing or wake surfing. "Users want to experience more scenarios on one boat," he said (translated from Chinese).

Where's it expanding? MIRAVA is launching in Europe first, where Nordic and Mediterranean water-leisure culture runs deep and demand is shifting from business entertaining to family outings. The company plans to show the M800E at Düsseldorf's boot show in January 2027 and deliver its first founder units by mid-year, before targeting the Middle East and North America. The new capital will fund research, mass-production lines, and a localised European sales and service network.

The signal: The round sits in roughly the 97th percentile among all-time angel rounds for connected-device companies based in Hong Kong, by 36Kr's framing — an outsized bet on a capital-heavy category. MIRAVA is wagering that consumer-hardware logic, not horsepower and hull size, will define the next generation of boating, pointing its product at a user base that treats time on the water like skiing or camping.
