What does Labelbox do? The San Francisco company builds AI infrastructure for reinforcement learning and enterprise agents. It works with more than 400 customers, including over 90% of leading US AI labs.

What's the endgame? The money will fund two products: Horizon, which provides reinforcement learning environments and evaluation tools for frontier labs, and Recursion Managed Agents, which lets enterprises deploy fleets of agents inside existing business apps. Each agent run feeds its memory, helping it improve over time.

Why now? "Every company will soon run on AI systems that learn from their own work," said chief executive officer and co-founder Manu Sharma. Earlier this month, Labelbox opened Recursion Managed Agents to enterprise customers, extending its approach beyond AI research labs.

The company already runs more than 50 agents internally across engineering, research, product, sales, marketing, and finance. It reached profitability in 2026 while growing more than fivefold year over year.

The signal: A nine-figure raise for infrastructure that trains and evaluates frontier models reflects where spending is heading — not just toward bigger models, but toward systems that learn from their own work and get better with every run.
