Fundraise

Oxylabs parent launches as Source at $3.6B valuation

What's the deal? A group of five web data companies, including Oxylabs, has launched under a new brand called Source. The move follows a funding round led by private equity firm Warburg Pincus earlier this year that valued the business at $3.6bn.

The group brings together Oxylabs, DecodoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, WebshareDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, HoneygainDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and ScrapingBeeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. All five brands will continue operating independently under the new umbrella organisation.

Why now? Source said demand across its businesses quadrupled over the past 12 months. The driver: AI systems increasingly need to access and process publicly available information from the internet.

What's the endgame? The companies provide tools for collecting and accessing public web data, supporting uses from financial market intelligence and cybersecurity to online fraud detection and AI-powered research. Source plans to use its combined scale to increase research and development spending and pursue further expansion.

The group originated with Oxylabs more than a decade ago, growing through acquisitions, investment, and product development. It now employs about 800 people across Europe, the US, and Asia, including more than 350 developers and engineers, and holds more than 180 patents.

Vytautas Savickas, Source's chief executive, said reliable web data access was becoming vital as companies deployed more sophisticated AI systems. "For these systems to work, responsible access to public web data is no longer just a technical tool. It is the core infrastructure for the next wave of progress," he said.

What could go wrong? The expansion of automated web data collection raises questions about intellectual property, website access restrictions, and the terms under which information can be gathered and reused.

The signal: The market for web intelligence is drawing attention as AI developers seek current information beyond their training data. As businesses move from chatbots towards autonomous agents that search, monitor markets, and perform complex tasks, the infrastructure feeding them is becoming its own battleground.
