Marklo raises $5M seed to build an agentic marketing platform for Shopify brands
What's the deal? Marklo AIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised $5 million in seed funding led by Forerunner, with participation from Freestyle Capital. The San Francisco startup builds an agentic marketing platform for direct-to-consumer brands running on Shopify, and it opened its public beta alongside the raise.
Why now? The announcement lands as brands prepare for the holiday selling season, the busiest stretch of the retail year. Marklo is already used by DTC names including Away, Clare V.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Monica + Andy, Maya BrennerDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? The platform connects tools brands already use — including Shopify, Klaviyo, Attentive, Meta, Google, Slack, Canva, and Figma — to track products, inventory, promotions, and results in one system. It identifies the next revenue opportunity, then builds campaigns for marketers to review and approve.
The product: Once installed, Marklo reconstructs a brand's launches, email, SMS, paid media, and revenue into a year-over-year marketing calendar. Each week it reviews sales and inventory, then delivers proposed campaigns via Slack or email. Latico Leathers used it to plan a full month of marketing in one day — a process that previously took most of a week.
Marklo was founded by Jessica Herrin, who previously built Stella & Dot Brands into a social selling company that sold more than $2 billion in products. The team includes DTC operators and engineers from Shopify and Google.
Her pitch: "Every tool in a brand's stack is getting AI, but each one only sees its own corner of the business," Herrin said. "Marklo sees all of it, spots the next opportunity and gets the work moving."
The signal: At $5 million, the round sits in the top 6% of all US seed rounds for marketing startups on record, a sign of investor appetite for AI tools aimed at lean commerce teams. As channels multiply and headcounts stay flat, the bet is on agents that execute campaigns, not just advise on them.
