The deal, announced in October 2026, pairs funding with a capital and business alliance through a third-party share allocation.
What's the endgame? The two companies plan to help small and medium-sized enterprises across Japan adopt marketing automation (MA) tools that Ymirlink intends to launch. COCOO will add those tools to its digital transformation support menu, combining its talent base and local customer relationships with Ymirlink's technology.
Why now? COCOO and Ymirlink already work together on Cuenote FC, an email distribution system, and marketing services. The new capital tie-up deepens an existing relationship.
Who's involved? COCOO, founded in 2019 and led by chief executive officer Yusuke Irie, employs around 900 people, 82% of them women. Ymirlink, founded in 1999 and led by president Wataru Shimizu, runs Cuenote, which handles 8.9 billion email messages a month.
The signal: The alliance targets a persistent gap: many Japanese SMEs want digital tools but lack the staff and know-how to use them. By bundling technology with hands-on support, the two firms are betting that guided adoption — not just software — is what moves the SMB market.
