ChatBIM startup ACIMUS raises $411,000 seed to cut BIM modeling time

What's the deal? Tokyo-based ACIMUS has raised approximately ¥65 million ($411,000) in a seed round led by Link CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. The round was completed through a third-party allocation of new shares.

What's the endgame? ACIMUS develops a cloud service that lets users create and edit Building Information Modeling (BIM) models of buildings by giving instructions to a generative AI in everyday language, such as "build a three-story office building." It runs in a web browser and can be used by people without experience operating specialised BIM software.

How does it work? Components such as columns, walls, and floors carry attribute information and can be exported in the international standard IFC format for transfer to existing BIM software. The official version launched in June 2025, and a pilot for "ACIMUS KIWARI," an AI that generates BIM proposals in bulk, began in June 2026.

Alongside the round, ACIMUS agreed a capital and business alliance with JR East Startup. A pilot project confirmed the service could significantly reduce the time required to create BIM models for station buildings.

Why now? In April 2026, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism began "BIM drawing review," which uses 3D models exported from BIM in building permit applications, with "BIM data review" planned for spring 2029.

The signal: BIM is becoming a prerequisite from design to maintenance, but the effort to learn the software remains a barrier. ACIMUS is betting that generative AI can lower that threshold — a wager now backed by both venture and rail-infrastructure capital.
