BPL Medtech buys majority stake in Europe's Medec to go global

What's the deal? BPL Medical Technologies has acquired a majority stake in European medical technology firm MedecDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Mumbai-based company announced in October 2026. The deal value was undisclosed.

What changes? The acquisition folds Medec's technology, intellectual property, and innovation capabilities into BPL Medtech's portfolio. That includes advanced anaesthesia workstations and ventilators, three patents, and a product pipeline featuring an electronic vaporiser and a value-engineered version of the Caelus anaesthesia workstation.

What's the endgame? BPL said the move strengthens its goal to build a globally competitive medical technology organisation. Medec brings CE-certified technologies and an active distributor presence across more than 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

Why now? The deal gives BPL "an expanded platform through which it can take Medec's CE certified technologies to additional markets," the company said. It frames the acquisition as part of a broader objective to build a more globally connected business.

The signal: For an Indian medical device maker, buying into an established European brand is a shortcut to international distribution, regulatory credentials, and patented technology — all at once.
