What's the endgame? The company builds end-to-end (E2E) self-driving software that pairs a driving model with a vision-language-action model (VLAM). The E2E model handles real-time driving while the VLAM interprets complex road contexts, such as construction-zone hand signals or abnormally parked vehicles.

Its camera-centric design aims to cut reliance on costly sensors and high-definition maps, making the software cheaper to deploy across different vehicles.

Who's building it? Chief executive officer Cho Seok-hwan has worked on ADAS and self-driving projects at Hyundai MotorDealroom has a profile for this one. Chief technology officer Je Hong-mo and other key staff bring vehicle AI software development and commercialisation experience.

Why now? Motif Drive ran simulation demos in December 2025 and February 2026 to confirm its core technology. In January 2027, it plans a real-vehicle demo for global automakers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers, aiming to start joint proof-of-concept tests and partnership talks.

What's the model? The company sells its software to carmakers and parts suppliers under a B2B licensing model, earning revenue as adoption spreads across vehicle lines. Founded in August 2024, it also runs a US subsidiary to pursue deals with local mobility firms and was selected for the Global TIPS program.

"Motif Drive is a company that combines AI development capabilities with real mass-production experience in the auto industry," an MYSC representative said, citing the team's ability to turn research into products carmakers can adopt.

The signal: Motif Drive bets that cheaper, camera-first software can widen access to self-driving tech. The funding backs that approach as the company moves from simulation toward on-road validation with global automotive partners.
