Econovus raises Series A to cut auto-parts export packaging costs

What's the deal? Econovus PackagingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Maharashtra-based startup that optimises packaging for exported auto parts, has raised a Series A round. Enrission India CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → invested through its "Enrission SP26 India Investment Limited Partnership" fund.

What does the company do? Founded in 2019 and led by chief executive officer Ramesh Prasad, Econovus designs, prototypes, and mass-produces packaging and transport materials tailored to the shape and logistics conditions of each customer's CKD (Complete Knock Down) parts. It also monitors shipping conditions end to end.

The product: Its "paper pallet" uses a proprietary paper-based material to replace wooden pallets. The company says it maintains required strength while cutting material costs by 25%, with added freight savings from lighter weight.

By also factoring in container load per unit, Econovus says customers achieve up to 30% in cost savings.

Why now? India is one of the world's largest CKD exporters, where complete vehicles are broken into parts, shipped, and assembled at the destination. The "Make in India" policy and efforts to reduce supply-chain reliance on China are expanding the auto-parts export market, yet much packaging still uses disposable wood that adds weight and lowers container efficiency.

About the backer: Enrission India Capital, based in Kyoto and led by chief executive officer Yusuke Kakimoto, invests in early-stage startups tied to the Indian Institutes of Technology. The firm said it backed Econovus for its proprietary materials and design strength.

The signal: As India's auto-parts exports scale, investors are targeting the unglamorous logistics layer — packaging and freight efficiency — where small per-unit savings compound across global supply chains.
