Pathways raises $6M to automate manufacturers' environmental reporting

Try Dealroom →, a New York-based AI platform that turns manufacturers' operational data into environmental product documentation, has raised $6 million in seed funding. The round brings total funding since Pathways' 2023 launch to $10 million. The money will fund expansion across more materials and documentation requirements, plus a bigger team.

What's the endgame? Pathways starts with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), independently verified documents reporting a product's environmental impact. Manufacturers increasingly need them to bid for major construction and infrastructure contracts.

Producing one has traditionally meant hiring a consultant, paying $20,000 or more per product and waiting six to 12 months. Pathways uses AI agents to collect, read, and structure the underlying data — from PDFs of electricity bills to scanned supplier invoices and spreadsheets — connecting directly into the systems that already hold it.

The platform also helps manufacturers identify which materials and processes drive their emissions, benchmark performance, and model alternative inputs before changing production.

Why now? Buyers want proof of what materials cost the planet. State Buy Clean laws, the EU's Construction Products Regulation, carbon border tariffs, and hyperscalers building AI data centres increasingly require it before a manufacturer can bid.

Cement and concrete alone account for roughly 8% of global CO2 emissions, among the hardest sectors to decarbonise. Roughly 75% of the urban infrastructure that will exist by mid-century has yet to be built.

Early traction: Pathways' largest contract, with investor Heidelberg Materials, is worth more than $1 million and spans sites across North America, Europe, and Australia. Ready-mix producer Crete SolutionsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which recently grew to 18 plant locations across the Carolinas, brought five plants and a StonemontDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → integration live in nine days.

The signal: At $6 million, Pathways' seed lands above the 93rd percentile for US real estate seed rounds, a sign investors see compliance documentation as a durable, regulation-driven market rather than a passing climate trend.
