Spartan Marketing buys Notion Design Group to fold web design into one shop

What's the deal? Spartan Marketing, a Greensboro, North Carolina agency, has acquired Notion Design GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a website design and development firm. The deal closed in July 2026 and establishes Spartan's new website design and development division. Terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: Notion has built more than 1,000 websites since 2006 and serves over 70 businesses, nonprofits, and agencies. Spartan offers marketing strategy, StoryBrand messaging, SEO, paid media, content and video, and sales enablement.

The key hires: Notion co-founders Joel Eschenbach and Tommy Bradley join Spartan as creative director and director of web development, respectively. All Notion client work — active builds, managed hosting, and maintenance — continues under the same team.

Why now? Businesses increasingly want their website and the marketing that drives traffic to it handled by one team rather than split across vendors. "Every plan we build for a client involves their website, so bringing Joel and Tommy onto the team was an easy call," said David Lillard, co-founder of Spartan Marketing.

What's the endgame? The combined offering now spans website design and development plus Spartan's full marketing services. "Clients keep everything they chose Notion for, and gain a wider set of marketing talent and abilities," Eschenbach said.

The signal: The tie-up reflects a broader push among agencies to consolidate digital services under a single roof, pitching clients on fewer vendors and tighter alignment between a site and the campaigns feeding it.
