1KOMMA5° hits $1.35B valuation, eyes US expansion
What's the deal? German home electrification company 1KOMMA5° was valued at $1.35 billion in a new late-stage financing round, the startup said. The valuation lands in the 44th percentile for deals of its kind — a mid-pack raise rather than an outlier.
What's the endgame? 1KOMMA5° plans to invest more than €100 million in its energy AI, named Heartbeat, in 2027. The system aims to automate energy trading, billing, and metering for home electrification customers.
Why now? Chief executive officer Philipp Schroeder said the company plans to expand into the United States from next year. "We're considering entering the US, because we've seen how much drive and how much interest from investors is actually behind that," Schroeder told Reuters.
The US push marks a return of ambition after 1KOMMA5° shelved its US IPO plans in 2025, when President Donald Trump's renewable energy and trade policies roiled markets. Schroeder said 2027 performance will be key in deciding when, and if, the company launches a US listing.
In September, 1KOMMA5° confirmed its aim to reach revenue of around $750 million for the 2026 financial year.
The signal: A home-energy company funnelling its new capital into AI reflects where the sector is heading — software that squeezes value from distributed power. 1KOMMA5° is betting its automation layer, not just hardware, is what investors and a future US market will pay for.
