Baiqu Biology raises $14.9M Series B to scale mass spectrometry and AI
What's the deal? Shanghai-based Baiqu Biology has completed a Series B round of nearly US$13.8M, exclusively led by CSC FinancialDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Capital. Existing shareholder Qiming Venture Partners followed on.
What does it do? Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Shanghai's Jiading District, Baiqu applies mass spectrometry to life sciences and medical health. It has served more than 70,000 projects and more than 3,000 institutions, with annual sample testing throughput of over 600,000 cases.
What's the money for? The company plans to fund R&D combining multi-omics with AI, and to develop new products such as single-cell and spatial metabolomics and proteomics. It will also build a mass spectrometry capacity centre in Zhejiang.
Where's it expanding? Baiqu is setting up an overseas headquarters in Singapore and laboratories in Europe and the United States. The aim is to extend its mass spectrometry and AI work into basic research, biopharmaceutical R&D, and clinical translation beyond China, where it already operates.
What's the endgame? Founder Deng Junliang wants to turn multi-omics research into clinical early-screening and diagnostic products. The firm built a self-developed library of over 20,000 metabolite standards and is now integrating mass spectrometry with AI to support model training and multimodal analysis.
The signal: The round reflects investor appetite for platforms that pair established lab techniques with AI, and for Chinese life-sciences firms looking outward. A projection cited in the source puts Baiqu's chance of raising again within two years at nearly 69%.
