What's the endgame? Founded in December 2023 in Hangzhou, the company has launched more than 20 CMOS image sensor (CIS) products across five areas: smart security, automotive vision, low-power IoT, machine vision, and medical imaging. All have reached volume shipment.
Where the money goes: CVSENS is directing the funds at four areas — iterating its high-end CIS core technology, optimising automotive-grade and machine-vision chips, expanding domestic and overseas sales channels, and building a full-lifecycle customer service system.
The company says several of its automotive-grade products have passed qualification and secured design wins with leading carmakers, with volume delivery underway. Its core team has worked in the image sensor field for over a decade and has led development of more than 100 high-end CIS chips.
Why now? The round draws backing from major industrial investors, including automotive players GAC Capital and BAIC Investment, pointing to demand for domestically made vision chips as carmakers add cameras and sensors.
The signal: CVSENS frames its goal as accelerating the localisation of high-end imaging chips and strengthening China's self-sufficiency in the supply chain — a theme echoed across the country's semiconductor sector as firms push to replace foreign suppliers.
