What's the deal? Nyx Hemera TechnologiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Comlab Telecommunications and its DavicomDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → division, both based in Quebec City, Canada. Terms were not disclosed. The two sides will keep operating separately.

Who's who? Nyx Hemera builds intelligent lighting control systems for critical infrastructure, including smart-city setups for road tunnels and underpasses. Comlab and Davicom make automation and control products for broadcast and telecom sites.

What's the endgame? Nyx Hemera said the companies have "highly complementary technological expertise," pointing to overlap that could expand their engineering and product development work. President Pierre Longtin said Comlab/Davicom's skills in "radio frequency electronics, antennas and telecommunications" give Nyx "access to new development opportunities."

What changes? Little, for now. John Ahern, president of Comlab-Davicom, said: "The company continues, the products continue, our support continues and the team continues." The main change: Ahern plans to retire after the spring NAB Show.

The signal: The deal pairs two Quebec City engineering firms with distinct but adjacent control-systems expertise, folding broadcast and telecom automation into a buyer rooted in infrastructure lighting. It is a modest, locally concentrated consolidation bet on shared technical capability rather than scale.
