Cambridge Industries raises ~$828M in share placement, convertible bonds

What's the deal? Optical module maker Cambridge Industries GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised net proceeds of more than US$785.7M (≈$828 million) through a discounted share placement and a convertible bond issue, the Hong Kong-listed firm said on October 8, 2026.

The breakdown: Cambridge will place 18.446 million shares at US$12.7 each — an 8% discount to its last close of US$13.8 — for net proceeds of about US$233.3M. Separately, it will issue US$544.5M in bonds convertible into H shares at an initial price of US$15.6, a 12.70% premium.

Where the money goes: The company plans to spend about 55% of combined net proceeds on expanding optical module production capacity, 30% on strategic investments in selected upstream firms, and 15% on general corporate purposes and working capital.

Why now? The bond subscription will net around US$556.8M after expenses, with listing sought on the Vienna MTF. The converted H shares, meanwhile, will be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The signal: The raise ranks among the largest of its kind — in the top 5% of post-IPO equity rounds for China's semiconductor sector over the past four years. With most proceeds earmarked for optical module capacity, Cambridge is betting on sustained demand tied to data-centre and AI infrastructure buildouts.
