What does it do? Mothium designs and manufactures electric vehicles with proprietary, patented technology, paired with software that manages fleets and after-sales service using AI agents. Its first use case is the eCargoBike, already deployed in Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, and the US.
What's the endgame? The company wants to cut the total cost of operating a fleet across both parts: the vehicle and its management. "Our obsession is that operating an electric commercial vehicle costs less for our customers," said chief executive officer Sergio González.
Mothium plans to extend its validated platform beyond the eCargoBike to other vehicles. González added that in the future it wants its vehicles to "carry out missions in tasks that no one wants to do or that pose a risk."
Who's behind it? Mothium produces at scale through UNEIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Andalusian social enterprise running serial production from a Seville platform. Its team also helped create EN 17860, the European standard for cargo bicycles.
Why the backers care: Fundalogy framed the deal as impact investing rooted in local technology. "Mothium develops a technology that already simplifies fleet management and aims to reduce risky work while contributing to decarbonizing mobility," said general director Javier de Pro.
Arcano Partners positioned its stake as a channel for public money. Through the Impacto Andalucía vehicle, "our commitment to support innovative companies is reinforced, ensuring that public capital is efficiently channeled alongside private capital," said Cristina Reina, managing director of real estate and public funds in its asset management division.
The signal: The round reflects a model gaining traction in Europe — blending regional public funds with private capital to back decarbonisation startups. Mothium's bet is that cost, not just emissions, will decide how fast commercial fleets go electric.
