The company announced the deal on October 8; it marks the first investment in an ongoing Series A round.

What does the company do? Based in Busan with a branch in Tokyo, Monster Ryot handles its full production process in-house, from story and storyboard to art and review. More than 90% of its IP sits in the action, fantasy, and thriller genres.

By the numbers: The studio holds 10 original IPs, three of which have signed game or screen-adaptation rights deals, and distributes work across eight countries. It is led by Go Jin-ho, the creator of the popular NaverDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → webtoon "Terror Man."

What's the endgame? The funds will go toward securing scalable source IP, upgrading AI-based production tools, and strengthening in-house writers and original planning. Monster Ryot aims to accumulate 100 titles within three years and has filed four patents related to webtoon production automation.

Why Japan? The studio has signed direct contracts with major Japanese webtoon platforms and has been publishing there since September 2025. It plans to expand results in Japan, where IP spanning comics, animation, and games is most active.

The signal: Monster Ryot argues action fantasy is the webtoon market's highest-demand, lowest-supply genre, as the art's difficulty limits how many studios can produce it. "Action fantasy is the genre that most naturally expands into comics, animation, and games, but there aren't many studios that can make it," chief executive officer Go Jin-ho said. At roughly $523,000, the round sits near the bottom of comparable deals — an early bet on a specialised niche.
