What does DeepX do? It is a fabless chip designer — meaning it develops semiconductors but does not manufacture them. Its Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is built for AI inference, targeting the on-device AI and edge AI markets with low-power, high-efficiency chips.
Why now? The raise is the third allotment within DeepX's fourth funding round. The company's board resolved on the deal on October 7, delegating the detailed terms and contract execution to chief executive Kim Nok-won.
One caveat: The specific limited partners behind the SVIC 33 partnership have not been confirmed. Samsung Venture Investment is Samsung GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s venture arm, backing startups across semiconductors and AI.
The signal: By volume, this round sits in the smaller tier for the sector — but the backers matter more than the size. Samsung's involvement signals strategic interest in homegrown AI chips as demand grows for efficient inference hardware at the edge.
