Cori Clinical raises $4M to cut clinical trial set-up costs

Try Dealroom → Clinical, a London-based AI platform for accelerating clinical trials, has closed a $4 million seed round led by BreegaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. What's the endgame? Cori is building an AI workspace that combines an organisation's clinical trial experience with external intelligence from registries, regulatory guidance, and public sources, including the Food and Drug Administration, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, and the European Medicines Agency. It helps teams turn a trial brief into a full protocol, submission package, and operational plan built against current regulations.
Why now? Clinical trials still rely on fragmented processes and disconnected information, making early design decisions costly to get wrong. A 2026 Tufts CSDD study found 76% of protocols are amended, with each substantial amendment costing around $141,000 for a Phase II protocol and $535,000 for Phase III — and amendments were linked to longer recruitment and study durations.
What does it claim? Based on internal modelling, Cori estimates its approach could cut average trial set-up costs by at least 33%. In an internal evaluation benchmarked against completed trials, its AI reviewer flagged 82% of protocol errors classified as avoidable.
Who's using it? Cori already works with two of the top five enterprise clinical research organisations (CROs) globally, plus customers such as Erasmus MCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Rotterdam academic medical centre where its platform supported two neurosurgery and neuro-oncology trials. "What normally takes us several months to draft — the protocol and Investigator Brochure — we completed in a matter of weeks," said Dr Judith Verhagen-Oldenampsen, research coordinator at Erasmus MC.
Where's the money going? The funding will expand delivery capacity, grow the team, and deepen the platform's regulatory and clinical intelligence. It also backs a key hire: Dr Emma Ogburn joins as chief clinical officer from Lindus Health.
The signal: With amended protocols draining both time and budgets across the industry, investors are betting that AI tools which front-load regulatory and design intelligence can reduce avoidable rework — and get new treatments to patients faster.
