What does Lumio do? The brand sells home entertainment devices, including TVs and projectors, aimed at affluent Indian households. Its software layer — including TLDR and Project Neo, an AI content discovery tool now in public beta in nine Indian languages — is its main differentiator.

What's the money for? A large share will fund research and development as Lumio enters new categories and deepens existing ones. The rest goes to brand building, its software platform, and the teams and processes behind customer experience, including after-sales coverage that currently spans more than 300 service centres across 19,000-plus pin codes.

What's the endgame? Lumio wants to grow from an enthusiast favourite into a household name. "This round lets us invest in the two things that compound: a brand people trust in their living room, and R&D that keeps bringing new categories and devices into the home," said Kailash Sankaranarayanan, co-founder and chief operating officer.

Why now? The company says it reached this point in about 18 months, shipping products across more than one category. Blume partner Sajith Pai argues the timing reflects a shift in demand: "India's 30-35 million affluent households are reimagining their living rooms, and no longer default to legacy brands." Nearly half of Lumio's customers are upgrading from legacy brands, he said.

The signal: The round sits in the upper tier of its cohort by size, a sign that investors are willing to back hardware-plus-software consumer brands targeting India's upgrading middle class. For a category long dominated by legacy players, capital-efficient domestic challengers are starting to attract venture money at scale.
