What's the endgame? SunFox makes Spandan, a portable ECG platform for personal, clinical, and institutional use. Frontline health workers capture an ECG and share it with remote doctors to flag critical cardiac patterns and speed up treatment.

In public-health systems, Spandan runs on a hub-and-spoke model: nurses at primary health centres record ECGs and share them with cardiologists at district hubs. The company also offers Spandan One, a digital layer for remote ECG review and tele-ECG network management.

Why now? The round is the largest SunFox has raised since it began as an R&D venture in Uttarakhand in 2016. Founders Rajat Jain, Arpit Jain, Sabit Rawat, Nitin Chandola, and Saurabh Badola started the company after the loss of a friend prompted them to look at faster cardiac assessment.

The capital will fund expansion across India, global go-to-market efforts, and more research and development. "This round gives us the resources to take what we have built in Dehradun to a much larger stage," said Rajat Jain.

By the numbers: Around 60,000 Spandan devices have been deployed across India, reaching more than 20,000 villages. The Spandan One platform screens roughly 5 million patients a year.

SunFox holds regulatory approvals in India, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa, and is pursuing clearances in the US and European Union.

The signal: At $7 million, the round sits in the top half of Series A deals by size, a notable mark for a company built outside India's main tech hubs. It points to investor appetite for low-cost diagnostics aimed at underserved markets.
