Air Liquide raises €2B bond, in top 3% of French energy debt deals
What's the deal? Air Liquide has issued a €2 billion multi-tranche bond, the French industrial gases group announced on October 6, 2026. The transaction, structured with 2-year, 5-year, and 10-year maturities, carries a weighted average interest rate below 4.00% per annum after pre-hedging.
Why now? The issuance follows Air Liquide's Capital Markets Day on October 5 and the launch of its BEYOND strategic plan for 2030. It also marks the company's return to the Euro market after a bond issuance on the Swiss market earlier in the year.
What's the endgame? Net proceeds will fund general corporate purposes and refinance existing debt. The deal was executed under the group's Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme and was, in the company's words, "very significantly oversubscribed by investors."

What they're saying: "This new issuance, executed in a complex environment, reflects investor confidence in the implementation of our new BEYOND strategic plan for 2030," said Jérôme Pelletan, chief financial officer and member of the Air Liquide executive committee. The funds, he added, "will support our capital allocation and drive the development of our activities in future growth markets."
The signal: At €2 billion, this ranks among the largest post-IPO debt raises in French energy — in the top 3% of such deals on record. The scale and heavy oversubscription point to continued appetite for investment-grade industrial debt even in a market the company itself calls complex.
