Altro Health raises $7M to turn gyms into clinics

What's the deal? Altro HealthDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a platform that lets personal trainers, gyms and medspas offer clients peptides, GLP-1s, hormone therapy and lab testing, has raised $7 million in seed funding. NFX led the round, with Founder Collective and longevity investor Abby Miller LevyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → of Primetime PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → participating.

What's the endgame? Altro bills itself as a "Shopify for wellness businesses," handling the clinical side while operators keep their own branding and client relationships. A board-certified team supervises each service, with products coming from licensed 503A and 503B pharmacies. More than 500 businesses already use the platform.

How it works: Pricing starts at $319 a month for a Starter plan with a co-branded storefront, the full product catalog and lab testing. A $599 Pro tier adds a custom domain, marketing tools and mobile blood draws. Businesses can start offering bloodwork, prescription drugs and peptides in as few as two days.

Why now? Demand for at-home peptide and hormone injections is hitting new highs. "Direct-to-consumer brands are fighting over the same customers, so we went after something bigger," said founder and chief executive officer Andrea Corleto, a Harvard MBA graduate.

The round sits in the top 10% of seed rounds in health over the trailing 48 months, based on 6,107 comparable deals.

What NFX sees: "We invested in Altro because we saw a massive new consumer category with no clear leader," said James Currier, a general partner at NFX, whose portfolio includes DoorDash, Lyft and Patreon. "The question is who builds the trusted infrastructure to meet the demand safely, at scale."

Altro plans to spend the money on product development, hiring, and sales and marketing.

The signal: The gym-as-clinic model is gaining steam, and Altro isn't alone in courting operators. In February, UFC GymDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → announced a joint venture with NexGen MD ScientificDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to put GLP-1, hormone therapy and peptide clinics inside its studios; Life TimeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has offered the same lineup through its Miora clinics since late 2023. A New Consumer report this year found a third of younger consumers would consider peptides on a wellness professional's recommendation — suggesting trust, not interest, is the real opening.
