Y Combinator backs Swiss insurtech Ageospatial for Fall 2026 cohort
What's the deal? AgeospatialDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Vaud-based startup, has been selected for Y Combinator's Fall 2026 cohort, securing the accelerator's financial support. The company, led by founder and chief executive officer Maaz Cheikh, uses satellite imagery and AI to help insurers remotely assess risks tied to physical assets like property, land, and infrastructure.
What's the problem? According to Cheikh, 97% of commercial properties are never inspected because sending an agent on site is too slow and costly. Insurers price risk on information from owners or brokers — and in nearly half of cases, at least one detail is wrong.
What's the endgame? Ageospatial's AI reads satellite and street-level imagery, maps, public records, and insurers' own data to map each asset's hazards and changes over time. "Anywhere in the world, in seconds," Cheikh says.
Why now? Y Combinator gives the startup three months in San Francisco to put its product in front of as many customers as possible, culminating in a Demo Day in early December. "Y-Combinator is really great for distribution, and the community really helps each other for that," Cheikh explains.
What's the expansion? Building on pilots with major European insurers, Ageospatial plans to begin working with US commercial property insurers and managing general agents (MGAs). Its Swiss branch will stay at EPFL Innovation ParkDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in Lausanne as its European base.
The signal: Backing from Y Combinator — one of the most notable names in early-stage investing — gives a European insurtech a route into the US market. It reflects how satellite data and AI are reshaping how insurers price risk they have never physically seen.
