ANSA McAL refinances syndicated loan in $88.5M debt deal

What's the deal? ANSA McAL, one of the Caribbean's largest conglomerates, has executed an amended and restated loan agreement that refinances an existing syndicated facility. The deal, entered into on September 30, 2026, restructures the company's debt on an unsecured basis and leaves the room to tap more funding.

The numbers: The transaction refinances the principal outstanding under an existing TTD $765 million dual-tranche senior secured syndicated term loan. ANSA McAL will borrow an additional TTD $60.47 million, bringing the new principal to TTD $600 million — roughly $88.5 million.

What's the endgame? The agreement lets the company increase the principal by up to TTD $300 million more, subject to the facility's terms. Any additional borrowing would go toward general corporate purposes; the company named no specific projects.

Why now? The move swaps a secured facility for an unsecured one, loosening the terms tied to the old loan. ANSA McAL spans manufacturing, distribution, retail, financial services, media, and automotive across the region.

Corporate secretary Frances Bain-Cumberbatch signed the notice, filed with the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange under Section 64(1)(b) of the Securities Act and Rule 603 of the exchange's rules.

The signal: A quick refinancing on unsecured terms, with headroom to expand, points to a conglomerate using its scale to cut borrowing costs and keep flexibility for whatever it builds next.
