Ocius-X raises $12.5 million to bring fiber to the US

What's the deal? Swedish SaaS startup Ocius-XDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised 125 million kronor (around $12.5 million) in an early-stage round led by Viking Growth, which joins as a part-owner. It is the company's first institutional venture funding.

What does it do? Ocius-X helps build fiber infrastructure in the US, positioning itself as a product of Swedish telecom expertise. Founder and chief executive officer Pär Cedergren spent decades at Ericsson before starting the company.

What's the money for? The capital will fund a scaleup push, the company's first since it was founded. It frames itself as "the result of Swedish IT success" (translated from Swedish).

The signal: Ocius-X is betting that Sweden's telecom pedigree travels well abroad, selling fiber know-how into the large US market. The round gives a lightly funded startup the backing to test that thesis at scale.
