Finches raises €2M to flag food supply risks before they hit production

What's the deal? Bavaria-based agritech Finches has raised €2 million in a pre-seed round co-led by High-Tech Gründerfonds and Vanagon VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Bayern KapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → joined as a new investor, alongside follow-on funding from existing backer UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators and a syndicate of strategic angels.

What's the endgame? Finches builds a platform that helps companies reliant on agricultural raw materials spot supply risks earlier. It combines internal procurement data — supplier profiles, cultivated acreage, contracts — with external inputs such as weather patterns, satellite imagery, local news, and field reports from agronomists.

The system analyses those inputs to issue early warnings, flag affected regions, and give sourcing teams time to react before disruptions reach production.

Why now? Climate change, extreme weather, and geopolitical crises are driving volatility in agricultural supply chains, often affecting crop availability months before the problem surfaces downstream. Chief executive officer and co-founder Catharina van Delden said recent drought showed European firms can no longer rely on securing the volumes and quality of raw materials they need each season.

"While risk signals usually emerge weeks ahead of time, procurement teams rarely see them in time to act," van Delden said. The funding will let Finches reach more companies "so they can line up backup suppliers, buy earlier, or reschedule production while there is still time."

Finches Intelligence launched in September 2026. Early customers include an organic baby food manufacturer and a North American Fortune 500 food conglomerate. The company will use the capital to accelerate product development and expand sales.

The signal: The round sits in the upper tier for pre-seed deals, above roughly 72% of comparable rounds. That backing points to investor appetite for tools that turn supply chain volatility into something procurement teams can plan around.
