Unit4 buys France's Napta to deepen professional services push

What's the deal? Unit4Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired NaptaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a French resource management and skills-intelligence platform that helps professional and business services firms staff projects. Terms were undisclosed. Napta will keep its brand, leadership, and open ecosystem model, led by co-founder and CEO Arnaud Caldichoury, with all three co-founders staying on.

Why now? Unit4 CEO Simon Paris called professional services "the largest and fastest growing market" among its key verticals, "making it the logical choice for a strategic acquisition."

What's the endgame? Unit4, which builds enterprise cloud applications for mid-market organisations, wants to serve clients as a full-lifecycle partner. The plan is to link Napta's skills and capacity data with Unit4's project, financial, and people data, so firms can plan projects, staff them, and see the financial impact in one flow.

The two companies will keep investing in integrations with major ERP, PSA, and HCM platforms, so customers running any suite can connect.

By the numbers: Napta serves customers in 70 countries, including consulting, audit, IT, and engineering firms. Unit4 counts more than 2,400 employees and over 5,100 customers across professional services, nonprofit, and public sector.

What changes for customers? Caldichoury said "nothing changes except what gets better: more investment in the product, the same team and the same flexible and customer-oriented approach." He added that joining Unit4 was "how we get there faster."

The signal: The deal reflects a broader bet that professional services is a people-first, skills-based business. By folding a fast-growing resource-planning tool into its ERP stack, Unit4 is wagering that firms increasingly want staffing, project, and financial data in one connected system.
