What's the endgame? Co-founded and led by chief executive René Saúl, Kapital describes itself as a technology company with a banking licence rather than a traditional bank. The Woz acquisition deepens a strategy built on automation, data analysis, and AI.

"The bank of the future is built with artificial intelligence engineers, and today the best ones build with us," Saúl told Forbes México (translated from Spanish).

Zoom in: Kapital operates mainly in Mexico, Colombia, the US, Puerto Rico, and Spain, serving more than 300,000 clients with roughly 3,700 staff.
