Blue Energy Partners lands double-digit million debt package for marine fuel push
What's the deal? Copenhagen-based marine energy company Blue Energy PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured a double-digit million-dollar debt financing package through two separate agreements with global financial partners. The capital is split between vessel financing for physical bunker operations and trade finance for its international trading business. The company announced the deal on October 5, 2026.
What's the endgame? Founded in 2022 by Bijan Shahbaz and Lamin Bara, Blue Energy Partners now runs seven offices across four continents. The vessel financing targets its bunker barge network in West Africa and further physical fuel supply, while the trade finance supports international trading and working capital.
Why now? The deal caps a year of change for the firm, which rebranded from Global Fuel SupplyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2026 to reflect its shift from bunker trader to a broader marine energy enterprise.
Its portfolio now spans ISCC-certified biofuels, compliance and trading services for EU, UK, and Swiss ETS carbon credits, and physical bunker operations in West Africa and Cape Town.
What they're saying: "These agreements are another important step in that journey," said co-founder and group chief operating officer Bijan Shahbaz. "It gives us greater flexibility to pursue opportunities and continue building the business for the long term."
Group chief financial officer Kenneth Henriks framed the deal as a structural shift. "As the business grows, our capital structure needs to grow with it," he said, adding that the financing "reflects the confidence our financial partners have in Blue Energy Partners."
The signal: Rather than a one-off cash injection, the company casts the agreements as long-term relationships it expects to scale with its global footprint — a bet that decarbonisation mandates and carbon compliance will keep driving demand for cleaner marine fuels.
