DNB launches world's first dedicated women's health equity fund

What's the deal? DNB Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched the DNB Fund Women's Health in Germany and Austria, which it describes as the world's first actively managed global equity fund dedicated exclusively to women's health. The Norwegian firm is targeting long-term growth across pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and diagnostics.

How it works: The fund screens more than 600 international companies, then selects 35 to 50 holdings across the United States, Europe, and Asia. The portfolio is built around three pillars — prevention, treatment, and quality of life — spanning oncology, reproductive medicine, autoimmune disorders, and cardiovascular health.

Who runs it? Physician Anesa Mulabecirovic Sahnoun manages the fund, drawing on more than 15 years of clinical and healthcare sector experience. She works with DNB's healthcare, technology, and global equity teams to assess large conglomerates where women's health is only a small business segment.

The fund is classified under Article 8 of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). It covers conditions that affect women exclusively, as well as those with higher prevalence or distinct clinical presentations in female patients.

Why now? DNB expects long-term growth driven by an aging global population and more precise diagnostics that detect conditions earlier. "We see a growing number of companies that develop innovative solutions for previously underserved health needs of women," said Mulabecirovic Sahnoun (translated from German).

What's the endgame? DNB frames the strategy as broader than reproductive medicine. "For investors, this creates a long-term investment theme that goes well beyond individual areas such as reproductive medicine," said Torsten Seuberth, senior wholesale manager for Germany and Austria (translated from German).

The signal: Women's health has drawn rising investor attention as a long-underserved market, and DNB is betting that packaging it as a single equity theme can turn demographic and medical trends into a durable product. Whether a dedicated fund outperforms broader healthcare strategies will be the test.
