MB Bank raises $310M in share sale, crossing VND 100T capital mark

What's the deal? Vietnam's Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →) raised VND 8,055 billion (about $310 million) by selling nearly 805.5 million new shares, the bank said in September 2026. It distributed every share on offer at VND 10,000 each, with net proceeds topping VND 8,054 billion after expenses.

What's the endgame? The sale lifted MB Bank's charter capital from over VND 92,632 billion to more than VND 100,687 billion. That pushes the bank past VND 100 trillion, a threshold reached by only a handful of Vietnamese lenders.

Where's the money going? MB Bank said the proceeds will support business operations "on the principles of safety and efficiency" (translated from Vietnamese), in line with its shareholders' approval.

Why now? The equity raise came alongside steady debt financing. On September 22, 2026, the bank issued 7,500 private placement bonds worth VND 750 billion, carrying a six-year term and a 9% floating rate. That followed a VND 500 billion, five-year bond issue on August 28.

What else? MB Bank is also restructuring its portfolio. Its board approved transferring its stake in AAA Insurance Corporation to MB Fund ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a subsidiary it owned 90.77% of as of the end of June 2026.

The signal: Crossing the VND 100 trillion capital line signals a bigger buffer for lending and expansion. Pairing a large share sale with back-to-back bond issues shows MB Bank stacking both equity and medium-term debt to fund its next phase.
