Aticco Lab and Muutos merge to build Spanish innovation and startup player

What's the deal? Barcelona-based Aticco LabDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and innovation consultancy Muutos have merged to create a single company covering startup support, corporate innovation, and access to funding for startups. The financial terms were not disclosed. The combined business will keep the Aticco Lab brand.

Who runs it? Anna Busquets, founder of Muutos, becomes chief executive officer, while Quino Fernández, Aticco Lab's current CEO, takes the role of president.

What's the endgame? The new company will focus on four areas: startup acceleration, support for conventional entrepreneurship, innovation consultancy, and capital raising for startups and growing projects. Aticco Lab has run programmes in open innovation, acceleration, and investment, connecting startups with corporations. Muutos has advised hundreds of organisations on innovation, entrepreneurship, and business transformation.

Why now? The deal responds to a push to widen support beyond startups to conventional companies, and to work with open-innovation models that deliver returns to corporations and businesses of all kinds.

"We share the same vision on how to generate real impact in the ecosystem. This union will let us go further, develop larger projects, and better support entrepreneurs, startups, and companies in their growth and innovation," said Busquets (translated from Spanish).

Fernández added that "innovation has to produce real results and cannot be limited to combining corporations and startups" (translated from Spanish).

The signal: The merged group aims to become a reference player in Catalonia and Spain for companies and entrepreneurs seeking to innovate, grow, and raise finance — a bet that Spain's fragmented innovation-services market rewards operators offering a single, broader package.
