Care tech startup Motion lands six-figure impact round to scale UK rollout
What's the deal? Motion, a care technology startup founded by a University of Sheffield graduate, has raised a six-figure sum from impact investors to fund its growth. The round was led by impact investing syndicate Daring CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, with significant backing from Barnwood TrustDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Gloucestershire charity supporting disabled people and those experiencing mental health conditions.
What's the endgame? Motion's software turns a person's care plan into everyday activities — such as walking to the shop or applying for a part-time job — that build towards greater independence. Staff record care as it happens rather than writing it up afterwards, and councils get reports showing what their funding achieves.
The software was co-produced with more than 4,000 people across care providers, people who receive care, and their families.
Why now? The raise follows a pre-seed round last year, after which Motion saw faster-than-expected growth and a surge in demand. It also lands as the Prime Minister sets out plans for a National Care Service and councils face pressure to prove what their social care spending delivers.

Founder and chief executive Zeezy Izenman started Motion after growing up with a step-brother who is autistic and has high support needs, later volunteering in care homes where he saw a gap between the care provided and the evidence generated.
What they're saying: "Giving care teams time back, and showing commissioners the outcomes their money buys, is where technology can help," Izenman said. The funding "lets us bring Motion to more providers and local authorities, so more people receive care built around what matters to them."
The signal: As the UK moves towards a National Care Service, demand is rising for tools that help councils and providers evidence outcomes — not just deliver services. Motion's round shows impact investors betting on technology that ties care spending to measurable results.
