AI-focused SPAC Southport Acquisition II prices $200M IPO

What's the deal? Southport Acquisition IIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a blank check company targeting the artificial intelligence industry, raised $200 million by offering 20 million units at $10 each. Each unit includes one share of common stock and one-half of a warrant to buy a share, exercisable at $11.50.

Who's behind it? The Greenwich, Connecticut-based SPAC is led by chief executive officer, chief financial officer, and chairman Jeb Spencer, co-founder and managing partner of software-focused growth equity fund TVC CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

The track record: Spencer previously co-founded and ran Southport Acquisition, which went public in 2021 and merged with Christian media company Angel StudiosDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in September 2025. Angel Studios (NYSE: ANGX) now trades 53% below its $10 offer price.

What's the endgame? The SPAC says it will look for AI firms that already generate meaningful revenue, solve mission-critical customer problems, and operate in segments where it expects durable public-market leaders to emerge. It will trade on the NYSE under the symbol PORT.U, with Cohen & Company Securities as sole bookrunner.

The signal: A SPAC pitched explicitly around AI reflects where public-market appetite is concentrated — but the earlier Southport vehicle's steep post-merger decline is a reminder that the structure carries real risk for later investors.
